This Friday, 19th April, EC4RURAL will be present at the II Sustainability Fair of the IES Luis Seoane of Pontevedra, invited by Eco-Étika, a working group of people linked to the educational community that promotes critical reflection on the current model of consumption, focusing on its social and environmental impact. Participating in this event is part of the dissemination and awareness-raising activities to publicise our project.
Specifically, the EC4RURAL technical team will participate in the “Energy in Action” workshop, which is aimed at the students of the centre and whose objective is to inspire critical thinking about the current energy system and to promote sustainable and participatory solutions.
The workshop will focus on several key issues. After an overview of the energy ecosystem and the “non-conventional” alternatives available to citizens, the workshop will reflect on the concept of energy citizenship and the fundamental role of rural energy communities in the transition to a more sustainable model. The EC4RURAL technical team will actively participate in this dynamic to contribute to the reflection and to present the work that has been carried out in Galicia since last September, as well as the actions that will be developed in the coming months for the implementation of 22 rural energy communities in other Galician municipalities, such as Mazaricos, Moeche, Ordes, Outes, Tordoia, Vedra, Vilasantar (A Coruña); Avión, Entrimo, Muíños (Ourense); Becerreá, Monterroso, Muras, Ourol, Palas de Rei, A Pobra do Brollón, Sober, O Valadouro (Lugo); O Rosal, Salvaterra de Miño, Silleda and Tomiño (Pontevedra).
The main objective of “Energy in Action” is to empower students to become agents of change in the energy sector, highlighting the importance of educating and training future generations to understand the energy challenges we face and to actively participate in the search for innovative and sustainable solutions.
The II Sustainability Fair of the IES Luis Seoane of Pontevedra is promoted by a group of students and teachers who are committed to raising awareness in society, especially in the educational community, about responsible consumption, care for the environment and the Sustainable Development Goals related to the 2030 Agenda.
